• Contracted by Aprovecho (www.aprovecho.net) to train NGOs in Mauritania on principles of improved wood and charcoal stoves. Project includes prototyping and testing of locally produced improved stoves.

• Surveyed biomass use reduction projects in Morocco for the Global Environment Fund/Micro-Credit office.

Engineer/Director, www.SunSmiles.org, Berkeley, CA........ Since May 2004

• Founded SunSmiles, a non-profit group of scientists, engineers, designers, and business professionals who provide sustainable solutions to improve the quality of life in poor areas.

• Co-Managed a development team working on a hybrid solar-butane oven.

• Conducted field work and testing of solar ovens in Morocco

• Developed partnerships with NGOs, universities, and development agencies in Morocco and USA.

Senior Engineer, ABAQUS, Inc., Fremont, CA........ October 2001 - May 2004

• Performed structural analysis on projects from  biomedical, electronics, and automotive industries

• Developed automation scripts for electronic applications

• Provided finite-element analysis training (Standard/Explicit, Contact, Convergence, Large models)

Staff Engineer, iDEN, Motorola, Plantation, FL. July1995-August 2001

• Analysis: performed dynamic drop and other structural analysis on cellular phones using ABAQUS/Standard, ABAQUS/Explicit, and Altair/HyperMesh

• Computer-Aided engineering: Created master models for three cellular phones using Pro/ENGINEER.

• Electrical-Mechanical Interface Process and Automation: automated modeling, mechanical analysis, and tolerance simulation of PCB assemblies

• Design: implemented size reduction of self-taping screws in cellular phones.

• Modeling Quality: developed techniques to solve solid modeling robustness issues in design, industrial-mechanical interface, meshing, and tooling;

• Research Collaboration: solicited and supervised collaboration with academia.

• Mechanical Community Development: developed a case-based curriculum specific to design of portable telecommunication products, developed and taught various courses, consulted and coached on solid modeling, organized advisory boards, animated workshops and cross-divisions technology sharing meetings.

Mechanical Engineer, Pitney Bowes (mailing machines), Shelton, CT July-December 1993

• Designed plastic parts and a mold using Pro/Engineer, and Performed flow and structural analysis using MoldFlow. My team earned a certificate of appreciation from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers for developing rapid prototyping of molds utilizing chemically bonded ceramics.

Independent CAD Consultant, SLM (toys manufacturer), New York, NY. June 1993

• Performed solid modeling of toys using Pro/Surface and hand-sketched artwork.

Field Engineer in Training, Halliburton (oil field services) Calgary, Canada. Summer 1991

• Performed gas well services.

Engineer in Training, COSUMAR (sugar refinery) Morocco. Summer 1987

• Determined causes of abnormal wearing of tub bearings.

Maintenance Technician, SAMIR (oil refinery) Morocco. Summer 1986

• Maintained vapor turbines.
