Surveyed biomass use reduction projects in six NGOs in Morocco: improved stove/oven, pottery kilns, hammams (communal bath house). Survey conducted on behalf of the Small Grant Program/Global Environment Fund office in Morocco.

Completed metallic hybrid butane-solar oven. Demonstrated oven in Morocco.

The hybrid solar-gas oven project presented at Renewable and Appropriate Energy Lab at Berkeley.

Established partnership with Near East Foundation (NEF). NEF will perform a field test of the hybrid solar oven in the high Atlas and Ouarzazate areas in the center of Morocco

Established partnership with Association pour le Développement Local (ADL). ADL will perform a field test of the hybrid solar oven in the Azilal area in the center Morocco

Completed a preliminary design, cost estimation of a hybrid solar-butane oven. Submitted proposal to UNPD/GEF, CDER, and ADS

Completed the second part of solar cooking field study in Morocco (July 1- Sept. 10, 2004)


Aug. 20, 2004

Build an 8 bread loaves oven prototype in Morocco. The purpose was to gain experience with oven size an locally available materials and tooling.

Presented solar cooking technologies at Ain Bni Mathar Cultural Week Seminar


June 30, 2004

Attended the international solar cooking meeting in Benicarlo, Spain (link). Activities included presentation of various solar cooking deployment projects, and demonstration of about 50 different solar ovens/cookers


June 23-28, 2004

Attended European Solar Conference EUROSUN 2004 in Freiburg, Germany (link). It was a good opportunities to make contact with researchers and find out about latest developments in solar thermal applications.
